Thank you so much for sharing that experience with us. It reminded me of an amazing friend I know, who suffers a similar pain. I don't know why you can't return to the Barefoot Boogie, but I wonder, what if your barefoot lover does still care for you in some 'modified' way? Love tends to evolve into another form of caring in many cases. I still have a profound love for all the women who have been in long relationships with me, and would do anything for them if they showed up at my doorstep. Contrary to what Hollywood and organized religion would have us believe, we have an infinite capacity for love. And it takes all shapes. you love this man, hold it in your heart and be joyful for your capacity to love through all the pain; and he must love you, too. maybe not in the way you want, but it's still there. Please keep writing, and more, keep loving without fear.
