Continuing the “Lisa’s New Life” story… I’ve shared a single car with my soon-to-be ex for 8-9 years, but since he inherited it, the court (at least temporarily) awarded it to him. In preparation for my big road trip to Oklahoma, I went shopping and found myself the sexiest stationwagon a single mom can get! It was, surprisingly, the first car I looked at, but it was exactly what I wanted, in excellent condition, well maintained, and very fairly priced. Coincidentally, I got both my new home and my new car from men named Steve.
I personalized my black 2003 Ford Taurus wagon with a red hibiscus license frame that I stumbled across in Target and some sparkly red hibiscus decals. These touches call to mind the hibiscus flower attached to the pen I used to sign my divorce petition and, coincidentally, the one in the photo next to the window where I presented my divorce papers, and the hibiscus tea I happened to purchase for my friend the day before I filed, and the hibiscus tattoo I almost got in February in preparation for my leap of faith, the day before a friend unwittingly likened me to a hibiscus flower waiting to open.
Well, I’ve opened.
